Katherine is a legal director in the criminal litigation team where she specialises in criminal and regulatory cases with an ESG or Business and Human Rights focus. She is recognised as a Global Market Leader for Business and Human Rights Law by Chambers and Partners Global and is a founder and co-chair of the Business and Human Rights Practitioners’ Network. Katherine’s work in this field is complemented by her extensive experience of complex, cross-jurisdictional criminal matters.
 

ESG, Business and Human Rights and Modern slavery

Katherine has acted for clients in a wide range of criminal and regulatory investigations including in relation to allegations of modern slavery, money laundering and bribery and acted in internal investigations related to suspected human rights violations and environmental harm.  Katherine advises NGOs and law firms on issues of corporate responsibility and liability for human rights abuses and environmental harm and has recently advised on a proposed mandatory UK human rights due diligence law. She is a regular commentator and speaker on issues of ESG, greenwashing and Business and Human Rights and a contributor to consultations convened by the UN Business and Human Rights Working Group. Katherine has been recognised by Chambers and Partners for Business & Human Rights Law - Global Market Leaders where she is ranked Band 3. 

Extradition and Interpol

Katherine has significant experience representing requested persons and foreign governments in relation to extradition requests from both within and outside the EU. Her experience of government work gives her an insight that enables her to offer pragmatic and practical advice to clients. Katherine has a track record of defending persons subject to high profile, sensitive requests that are often politically motivated or part of a broader campaign against an individual. In such cases Katherine regularly works alongside colleagues in our International Protection team to assist clients and to deliver the careful, strategic management such cases require. Katherine is ranked Band 2 in Chambers UK 2024: Extradition.
