Tackling racial harassment in higher education

We are pleased to share that from 30 January to 6 February 2021, Kingsley Napley is celebrating National Storytelling Week by holding a book drive to raise funds to provide more representative and inclusive children’s books for local primary schools.
Please consider supporting our JustGiving page by donating the cost of a book (or two!) so that more children can be inspired by these wonderful stories. Our team will be donating the books to various local primary schools to encourage children to learn about inclusion and diversity.
JustGiving: KN Children’s Diversity Book Drive
Our Diversity & Inclusion group is integral to progressing the firm’s D&I related initiatives. To further our commitment, our Diversity & Inclusion group has launched a children’s book drive dedicated to increasing diverse books in schools to launch during National Storytelling Week.
We believe it's important for all children to see themselves and their friends in the stories they are reading and be able to relate to the characters. We strive to help encourage a world in which all children can see themselves in the pages of a book. Stories can also help children understand and develop empathy for people with different lives and experiences.
Shannett Thompson, Partner and Chair of Kingsley Napley's BAME & Allies Network comments:
"The world is not one-dimensional, and neither should the books children have access to be. Children spend much of their formative years in school. Recognition and identification are important factors for children when reading. It is very important that they are able to access books that represent them and the diversity of others.
Reading books with relatable characters that explain our differences in a way that is age appropriate helps children to learn respect and tolerance from an early age.
At Kingsley Napley our initiatives focus on the I(nclusive) in D&I as much as diversity. This book drive is our way to help children in schools feel included."
