IWD: Transgender women in prison
Previous blogs on the topic of IWD have focussed on the struggles confronted by women in the past, and the many challenges we still face today. For one group of women however, the battle is not just over equal opportunities or respect, but over the right to identify and be treated as women. In recent years, the subject of transgender rights has been pushed into the limelight following a spate of reported suicides by transgender women placed in male prisons.

IWD: What is being done to combat violence against women?
One of my favourite placards during the Women’s March was “I can’t believe I still have to protest this ****”. It is 2017, and I cannot believe that the levels of violence against women remain so high.

IWD: ‘Come on, give us a smile’ – the girls and construction mix
My resting face, and in particular my focused face, is stern. ‘Come on, give us a smile’. This is what I heard from a man whom I did not know, whilst checking my e-mails following a major construction legal industry networking event earlier this month.
