Our Interview Process

What can you expect from the interview process?

Great news - you have been invited to an interview at Kingsley Napley! So, what happens next and how can you prepare?

You may be asked for first stage ‘Teams’ interview in the first instance with a follow-up second stage interview at our offices. We often arrange remote interviews so we can speed up the process and speak to candidates quickly – we appreciate it can be difficult taking time off of work. However, we think it is important to see people in the flesh- so face to face at some point in the process is also preferred.

If you have a preference either way – please just let us know.

You will always be sent a confirmation email with the relevant details of the format, time, who you are meeting and any other specific instructions. If there is a case study included at interview, we will be sure to let you know as much information beforehand as possible.

Interview Questions

Our interviews are very much a two-way conversation. As much as we want to find out about you, the interview is also your chance to ask us questions and make sure KN is the right place for you too.

Our questions will always be aligned to our job descriptions and are designed to get to know you; your potential, your strengths and your future ambitions. You can expect a very friendly panel of interviewers who want to bring out the best in you – not trip you up or catch you out.

We will always ask about your interest in Kingsley Napley, and culturally what’s important to you. We look for ‘culture add’ not ‘culture fit’ – and people who will complement the existing and unique culture that we have at the firm. We want you to be genuine and authentic. We want you to be yourself!

Our questions will incorporate a mixture of competency, strengths based and skills based. We want to hear about what you love doing; what makes you tick and keeps you motivated. We also look for candidates who are honest and can self-reflect, so don’t be surprised if we ask you about things that haven’t gone well and lessons learned.

You will always have the chance to ask us questions too and you can ask us anything. If there is something you would prefer to ask more discreetly to the HR team – please contact Natalie Slater or Molly MacKenzie-Williams.

Reasonable Adjustments

If you require reasonable adjustments to your interview, we are always more than happy to accommodate these to ensure the process is as smooth as possible for you.

Some examples are:

  • Additional time with interviews or case studies
  • Remote/ face to face interviews – we can change these accordingly
  • Time spent going through the interview questions beforehand

Of course you are welcome to speak to the recruitment team if there is anything else not included in the above.

The careers team would love to hear from you
