How to Apply

You will need to apply via our online application system, Candid.

Please note that Kingsley Napley will not accept applications made in any other format.

If your application is successful, we will invite you to take part in our assessment programme listed below, running over the spring/summer months.

The recruitment process begins with candidates completing an online application form, made up of their personal details, academic history, work experience and several topical questions, which change each year. These questions test motivations to pursue a legal career, to train at Kingsley Napley as well as a broader understanding around commercial challenges.

Successful applicants are then invited to take part in online testing, designed to assess future potential in a career in law. These tests are challenging but do not require any prior work experience.

Those who meet the required benchmark progress to the next stage, which involves submitting a video presentation. This step provides an opportunity to showcase communication, advocacy and interpretation of instructions. We will also be assessing candidates’ ability to demonstrate empathy and excellent client care.

Following this, candidates will complete a case study exercise, enabling us to assess analytical thinking and practical application of legal concepts.

The next stage involves a screening call conducted over Teams for up to 30 minutes with the Early Talent Recruitment Team. This stage gives successful candidates the opportunity to meet someone in the team and talk through their current experiences, interests, and motivations going forward.

The final stages of the process are interactive. Candidates participate in a virtual group exercise to demonstrate collaboration and teamwork, followed by a final in-person interview. We’re looking for dynamic, creative, innovative, and ambitious trainees who are aligned to the culture and values of the firm, and so our questions include a mixture of competency, skills/ opinion-based that are designed to stretch candidates, whilst giving them the opportunity to shine.

Offers for training contracts are made to candidates in June/ July time each year.
