Isabella's Story

"Every member of the firm is dedicated to working in an environment where there is genuine care and thought for clients and each other."

Since starting my journey into law, I have wanted to work at Kingsley Napley. I was always attracted to the firm’s reputation and its strong commitment to culture. I am now a month in to my training contract, in the Dispute Resolution team and working on a variety of different areas including; court of protection, arbitration, defamation and general commercial litigation.

Before I started, I had three unsuccessful years of making applications to different law firms, so I was excited, but also intimidated at the prospect of actually starting life as a trainee. It has been clear to me from day one, that I should only ever have been excited. Every member of the firm is dedicated to working in an environment where there is genuine care and thought for clients and each other. This in turn creates the best possible place for trainees to be able to develop and grow their skills.

We started our first week with an induction to the firm, including the all important tour of our new office. Particular highlights include; the GHDs available in the changing rooms, the peaceful meditation room and the free breakfast available at Lennie’s, our legendary Kingsley Napley cafeteria.

The advice I would give to someone pursuing a career in law is, as much as you can, when it comes to applying to a firm focus on the firms that align with your own values and one you can really see yourself working for. Secondly, choose firms which practice in the areas you are most interested. Then when it comes to writing your applications and answering interview questions, your genuine passion will come through.
