You, your data and your fridge - issues of privacy and data protection
The main focus of this blog is the challenges faced by the law to monitor and regulate the fields of privacy and data protection in an inter-connected world.
Any organisation that handles and captures customer or employee data, whether it be on a server, in a cloud or even on a usb stick, needs to follow the appropriate data protection laws in doing so or it can face heavy penalties.
There’s no getting away from it - lawyers like making lists. Over the last 12 months or so, we’ve seen a number of lists setting out “top tips” for startups and entrepreneurs, but most have related to specific areas such as securing third party investment. Not wanting to be left out, we’ve put together our own list of top tips for startups.
2014 marks 50 years since the BBC’s Match of the Day started providing generation after generation of football fans with highlights of the weekend’s goals and major talking points. These weekend round ups, however, are no longer enough for most football fans who, fuelled by the rise in social media, demand up-to-the-minute football coverage.
Mornings for some consist of checking Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, work and personal email accounts before leaving the house. Throughout the day a large number of us will go on to check our bank balance, book a restaurant, do our food shopping, deal with clients, book our next holiday or train home, all online. But, do we really know how secure our data is and who has access to it?
