From Certificates to Belief Statements: The CPS and the Limits of Forum Bar Intervention

Comment from Adam Chapman, partner and Head of Public Law at Kingsley Napley LLP, who represented seven of the bereaved families during the 7/7 inquest process:
“My clients are grateful to Lady Justice Hallett for her professional leadership of the 7/7 investigation and the thoroughness of her findings in today’s report.
This was the biggest inquest since that into the death of Diana, The Princess of Wales. It was conducted with the broadest possible scope and has served important lessons for our emergency services and the Security Service. It has also gone a long way to help answer the many questions of grieving families who lost loved ones during the tragedy.
Today's verdict, coupled with the wider events of this week, will assist my clients in drawing a line under this atrocity. It is our collective view that an additional public enquiry would add little and simply drain valuable taxpayers funds. My clients now wish to lay the matter to rest to focus on cherishing the memories of those they loved.”
