Kingsley Napley's immigration team sponsors Financial and Professional Services Post-Brexit Immigration Briefing

9 May 2019

Our immigration team was pleased to be a sponsor at today's Financial and Professional Services Post-Brexit Immigration Briefing, organised by City and Financial Global, and aimed at senior figures from the financial and professional services industries.

Nick Rollason, head of our immigration team, chaired a panel discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed immigration system. During the discussion, Nick commented that, “We are in an extraordinary position... We were told a lot of the sentiment around leaving the EU was based on immigration... We are now looking at a white paper that could be the most liberal immigration system in the world.”

Ilda de Sousa, immigration partner, gave a presentation on various aspects of the White Paper proposals including the transitional visa; business visitors and the proposed ETA scheme; the Youth Mobility Scheme and graduate students.

Other guest speakers included Glyn Williams, Director General of Policy and Strategy at the Home Office, Stephen Denyer, Director of Strategic Relationships at the Law Society, Matthew Fell, Chief UK Policy Director at CBI and Madeleine Sumption, Director,  Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford.
