On 16 October 2014, the Immigration Minister announced in its latest Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules some positive changes for Tier 1 (General) migrants. With effect from 6 November 2014, any Tier 1 (General) migrant applying to extend their visa before the 6 April 2015 cut-off will be granted either three years (as at present) or the balance an applicant needs to take their time in the category to five years, whichever is longer.
Further to our 11 July 2014 update on the ending of Tier 1 (General) extension applications from 6 April 2015 and indefinite leave to remain applications in this category from 6 April 2018, on 16 October 2014 the Immigration Minister announced in its latest Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules some positive changes for Tier 1 (General) migrants as a result of lobbying and representations to the Home Office.
On 16 October 2014 the Home Office published its latest Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules.
As part of a package of changes to the Immigration Rules, the Home Office have today published a welcome change which will benefit lawyers working for international law firms.
For those migrants who need to register with the Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) please note that no appointments are available for 18 and 19 September 2014. The website is advising applicants that all appointment slots have been filled until Monday 22 September 2014.
