Immigration Update: Delays at the Overseas Visitors Records Office

For those migrants who need to register with the Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO) please note that no appointments are available for 18 and 19 September 2014. The website is advising applicants that all appointment slots have been filled until Monday 22 September 2014.

As certain migrants need to register with OVRO within seven days of arrival in the UK, the metropolitan police are recommending that a print out of the OVRO website is taken to the appointment, where the seven days has been exceeded.

To increase the likelihood of securing an appointment, migrants are advised to arrive at OVRO by 6 AM, although opening hours are 9 AM to 4 PM. If they are unable to secure an appointment on the day of attendance, they should take note of the name of the officer they spoke to.

OVRO has recently relocated to the following address:

London
SE1 1JL

There is an application form which can be accessed via the website. The following documents will need to be taken to the appointment:

  • Registration fee – £34 (cash or debit/credit card)
  • Completed application form
  • Any Home Office letters/forms
  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • A copy of the Visa page from the passport
  • A copy of the Biometric Card (if applicable)
