Immigration has long been a part of Britain’s history, however the concept of documenting and restricting certain migrants is relatively new - having first been introduced at the turn of the 20th Century.
With contemporary events such as Brexit and the 2024 general election, immigration has been a hot topic in the UK and throughout the EU, discussed constantly in the media and in political spheres.
France is currently hosting the Olympic games, exactly 100 years after it last hosted them in 1924. We take this opportunity to have a look back at how UK immigration policies for EU citizens have evolved over this period, focusing on some of the key changes.
