Lifecycle of a tech startup series: VC Investor
The EMI share options which KNow Wear Ltd granted to Aggie and Edith in episode 12 have really worked to incentivise them; and thanks in large part of their efforts, the company is getting lots of advanced orders for the product. In order to ensure that the company has enough bandwidth to keep up with demand, you, Sarah and Chris have started to think about raising more funds. This is to ensure that the company can produce the number of units it needs to fulfil the orders, and then actually physically fulfil them.

Mini-Budget U-turn – what does this mean for entrepreneurs
After five of the most tumultuous weeks in Government it is all change for the mini-budget announced by Kwasi Kwarteng on 23 September. We originally published an article on 30 September 2022 discussing the impact of the then Chancellor’s proposals. No sooner had we done so, when nearly all of the tax changes that had been introduced as part of Prime Minister Liz Truss’ growth agenda, were unceremoniously dumped by the new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt.

What does the Chancellor’s mini-budget mean for entrepreneurs?
On 23rd of September the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng, unveiled his mini budget which is effectively the Government's new growth plan. As everyone now knows this signified the Government's intention to focus directly upon economic growth. To this end, the Chancellor set out dramatic tax cuts (not all of which were either expected or pre-announced) and reforms for individuals and businesses, the like of which we have not seen for a very long time. Unfortunately it does now seem clear that the City was unprepared for the extent of the reforms, and they have been received very badly by many.

In advance of trialling the product with a test group of 100 consumers you, Sarah and Chris are now turning your attention to compliance with data protection legislation, given that the trial phase will mark the commencement of the company processing a significant volume of consumer personal data. Users will need to provide their personal details in order to register an account with KNow Wear and reap the full benefits of the wellbeing wearable via the web-based platform which works alongside it.
