Proportion of married people in England and Wales falls below 50% for first time

 

It was widely reported that the proportion of people aged 16 or older in England and Wales who are married or in a civil partnership has fallen below 50% for the first time.

These statistics suggest laws in this area must be updated and were “crying out for reform.” Our Head of Family Law Sital Fontenelle said protections for cohabitants, who currently have “limited rights”, must be considered.

ONS Reports Significant Rise in Advanced Fee Fraud

After it was reported that there were 454,000 advance fee fraud offences in England and Wales in 2022, a large jump on previous years, Will Christopher told The Telegraph and the Evening Standard that “The reason this type of fraud is rising at such an alarming rate is that fraudsters believe they can get away with it – the criminal justice system just isn’t keeping up."
