Reminder – the EU Settlement Scheme deadline is 30 June 2021

9 June 2021

You are likely aware the EU Settlement Scheme deadline is just around the corner on Wednesday 30 June 2021. All EU, EEA and Swiss citizens in the UK on or before 31 December 2020 must apply for pre-settled or settled status before the deadline.

Even those who have been granted permanent residence or a different residence document under the EEA Regulations (not under the EU Settlement Scheme) must apply to convert it to settled (or pre-settled) status before the deadline. Individuals who have obtained British citizenship or are Irish do not need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.  Our website has further information.

EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who do not apply before the deadline may lose their right to work in the UK from 1 July 2021.  Our recent blog has more information on the deadline and when late applications may be permissible.

If their arrival in the UK date is on or after 1 January 2021, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens will need to apply in advance for permission to work in the UK under the new immigration system.
