On 7 March 2019, Stonewall and the InterLaw Diversity Forum co-published the names of the Top 25 law firms in Stonewall’s 2019 Workplace Equality Index (the “Index”). The Index is the definitive national benchmarking exercise showcasing Britain’s top employers for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender staff.
For the first time, we were included at number 23. Our LGBTQ & Allies network Chair, Melinka Berridge, said
We are delighted that the hard work of our LGBTQ & Allies network has been recognised by Interlaw and Stonewall. We have had a number of senior leaders join the network over the past year and this has undoubtedly helped to raise both the profile of the network and awareness about the issues affecting our LGBTQ clients and colleagues. The network has future plans to work closely with colleagues in our BAME, (dis)Ability, Social Mobility and Faith networks to raise awareness about intersectionality and to continue to celebrate our diverse culture at KN”.
We were proud to see the results from the Index’s staff survey, which showed that:
- 100% of our LGBTQ employees feel able to be themselves in the workplace, compared to a national average of 83%; and
- 100% of our non-LGBTQ employees feel confident challenging inappropriate behaviour or discrimination towards LGBTQ people in the workplace, compared to a national average of 90%.
