Laura is a Legal Assistant and has worked in the Criminal Litigation team since 2015. She is currently training to become a member of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Laura assists with the running of a range of cases in the Criminal Litigation team including those involving high profile clients. Her main area of work is general crime, with a focus on sex offences.
In her current role, she acts as a point of contact for expert witnesses and witnesses of fact and character. She liaises with the police, prosecution and courts to effect the smooth and efficient running of cases. She meets with clients to take their instructions and attends Court to assist Counsel at a range of hearings in both the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court.
Laura manages cases involving applications to vary or discharge Sexual Offences Prevention Orders (SOPO) and Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPO) in cases where they are no longer necessary as their stringent prohibitions have become punitive and/or overlap with statutory notification requirements.
She has also advised victims of crime in making a complaint to the police and supported them through the process, liaising with the police on their behalf.
Prior to becoming a paralegal, Laura worked as a Legal Secretary and has over 10 years’ experience in criminal law.
