About the authors
John Young is a Partner in the Corporate, Commercial and Finance team, specialising in the business needs of entrepreneurial, high-growth and family businesses. He specialises in M&A and fundraising, with a particular focus on transactions in the £5m–£100m enterprise value range and private and capital markets fundraising between £500,000 and £20m, often with a cross-border element.
Natalie Grumhaus joined Tri-Merit in 2023 as an attorney based in Southern Michigan. She is a Director in Audit & Compliance and also supports the company’s General Counsel work. Natalie graduated from Michigan State College of Law in 2023 with a Juris Doctor and a certificate in Arts and Cultural Management, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Fine Art from Hillsdale College. Before joining Tri-Merit, she worked in customer service and gained experience in both criminal and civil litigation. Outside work, Natalie enjoys gardening, hiking with her husband and dog, and is an amateur beekeeper.
Phil Williams is a Partner at Tri-Merit. Since joining the firm in 2011, Phil has worked with more than 600 companies to identify, calculate, document and defend research and development tax credits at both the federal and state levels. Since becoming a Partner in 2018, his primary responsibilities have included leading the engineering team and the audit defence and tax controversy teams.
