Chambers' Compliance Check

The BSB is set to sharpen its focus on chambers and is looking at ways to ensure a greater measure of compliance with the mandatory aspects of the Handbook, including clarifying its expectations in areas such as price transparency, AML regulation and diversity.

It is also looking at how chambers governance measures up to the BSBs “expectations …in support of standards, equality and access”. In its recent thematic review of compliance with the sanctions regime, the BSB found that documentation and implementation of sanctions controls in some sets was deficient. This poses a direct risk to chambers and members.

The Chambers’ compliance check is free and takes less than an hour to complete (if you know the answers!). The compliance check covers the following risk areas:

  1. Sanctions
  2. AML, CTF and Proliferation financing
  3. Fair Allocation of work
  4. On boarding of clients
  5. Conflicts of interest and confidentiality
  6. Discrimination and sexual harassment
  7. Cyber security/data
  8. Data protection
  9. Complaints
  10. Price transparency

The survey is conducted on-line and provides chambers with a RAG-rated report highlighting those areas of compliance that may require further attention. To ensure you receive the RAG-rated report, please complete your contact details. We treat all personal data in accordance with our data protection policy
