Matt joined Kingsley Napley as Managing Partner on 1 April 2025. He heads the firm’s Senior Leadership Team and sits on its Management Board.

Matt is a seasoned law firm leader and strategist, having served as Chief Executive of Taylor Vinters for 15 years before joining the Management Board of Mishcon de Reya on merger, becoming Chair of the Impact Department, and coordinating their responsible business team.

Matt is recognised as an influential thought leader in the legal industry, having been named by the Financial Times as one of Europe’s most innovative lawyers in 2019 and winning the Managing Partners’ Forum award for Best Strategic Leadership in the same year.

In his role as CEO of Taylor Vinters, Matt engaged all staff in defining the firm’s identity and purpose, putting this at the heart of the business’s successful commercial strategy, which included international expansion and a focus on innovation and purpose-led activities.

His commitment to developing the practice of leadership and management in the sector includes lecturing on “Law Firm as a Business” at the University of Cambridge and contributing as an Advisory Council member for Harvard Business Review.

Matt is the Founder of the Zebra Project, an initiative looking at the future of business and responsible leadership. He has previously guided the growth of legal-tech business ThoughtRiver as an Advisory Board member and chaired brand and marketing agency Mobas.

Originally a commercial and technology lawyer, his practice today centres on mediation of partnership and shareholder disputes and coaching leaders of professional service firms. He is a Meyler Campbell trained executive coach, accredited mediator, and associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Outside of work, Matt is a committed aviator, holding a commercial pilot’s licence. He enjoys sailing and has a keen interest in horse racing. He is also a Director of Rome-based Pax Humana Foundation, which focuses on mediation in conflict zones, working across the Sahel region of Africa.
