Kingsley Napley partner Iain Miller recently took part in a roundtable hosted by Law Society Gazette on the subject of law firms and cybercrime. The discussion covered the special considerations for law firms who find themselves victim to cybercrime, in terms of complying with regulatory and professional obligations, as well as client confidentiality and client care. Law firms are increasingly a target for cybercriminals because they routinely handle sensitive client data – and client funds.
Iain talked in particular about law firms' obligations under the SRA Code of Conduct and the wisdom of firms being able to show the regulator that they had robust systems and procedures in place in order to mitigate any punishment or enforcement action that may follow.
You can access the Law Society Gazette article which describes the full roundtable discussion here.
