Mediation is a method of dispute resolution which aims to assist couples reach an agreement and resolve disputes with the assistance of a neutral third party, rather than through the court process.  Mediation takes place in a safe, comfortable and non-judgmental environment at our office.  Many people find this non-confrontational method of reaching an agreement (in relation to children or financial disagreements) to be a significantly more positive experience than having a solution imposed upon them by a Judge.

A mediator is instructed by both parties to be an impartial manager/facilitator and would not therefore be able to help if he or she had previously advised one of you.  The role of the mediator is to help you reach an agreement and not to advise.  You will both be encouraged to seek independent legal advice during the process.

A member of our family law team will be happy to discuss the suitability of mediation for you and your spouse or civil partner.

Our team of specialist family lawyers includes four trained mediators able to assist you with financial and/or children issues (Miranda Baker, Charlotte Bradley, Michael Rowlands and Lucy Thomas), allowing you to choose the right mediator to suit your personal circumstances.
