Punam is a Senior Associate in the Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Department.

Recognised by the independent legal directories for 10 years, Punam has secured settlements for clients in a wide range of claims.

Punam joined Kingsley Napley LLP in August 2006 and has always specialised in clinical negligence and personal injury work.  She deals with all aspects of medical negligence claims, including birth injury and acquired brain injury claims, claims relating to fatal accidents, those involving gynaecological injuries following childbirth and those due to the delayed diagnosis of cancer.   She has also acted for families at Inquests.   Her particular expertise in birth injury includes Cerebral Palsy and Erbs Palsy cases.  She also has a special interest in claims related to infectious diseases, such as meningitis and has dealt with a number of amputation and sepsis cases.

Punam advises families in investigating cases where babies have died shortly after birth as well as many cases involving brain injuries in the course of childbirth.  She has also dealt with cases for children and adults and the compensation ensures they are able to access the services they need.

Punam wins praise from her clients for her professional and honest approach, meticulous attention to detail and her sensible advice in securing compensation for clients.  She works closely with individuals and families and investigates all types of clinical negligence cases.  These can include negligent surgery, negligent antenatal care or treatment in hospital.

Commentators note her as a "very proactive" and "very good" lawyer (Chambers and Partners 2016).  She is also noted in Chambers and Partners 2014 as a “Star Associate” who is "a real pleasure to work with" and in 2019 as an "outstanding” solicitor who “continues to impress sources across the market”.

Punam is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is on the Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel of Solicitors with Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA)

What clients and directories say

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to express my feelings regarding the outstanding service you provide to me, yes it’s that word again, we can’t all be wrong.  From our very first conversation I had the warm feeling that I was going to be well looked after and well represented and this has been proved to be very much the case .  I have found Punam’s main attributes are that she has a natural empathy for my medical condition as well as for my family life.  Her professional knowledge and ethical behaviour continues to astound me. She is always available and very approachable. I am very glad she is on my side”.

Mr JW:  Current client with a spinal cord injury where liability has been admitted

"The support, both technical and emotional, that my we have received from the KN team, and indeed Counsel and the various Experts, has been amazing…we are so grateful for the professional yet friendly and compassionate way you have looked after us.  Our thanks to all of you, but in particular to Punam and Suzanne for guiding us through the process.  We achieved a result that was above our expectations and the settlement will ensure that my Mother can enjoy a high standard of care for her remaining years. I am also pleased that we received a detailed apology from the Hospital and that steps have been taken to minimise the chances of a similar event occurring in the future."
