“Education, too?”: tips for investigating sexual allegations in schools and higher education settings
Our Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage (REACH) network, led by regulatory partner Shannett Thompson, won the award at a ceremony celebrating diversity in the legal sector. The initiative was created by the Black Solicitors Network (BSN) to highlight the firms, chambers and individuals leading the way on promoting and supporting more diversity in the industry.
Kingsley Napley’s REACH network has been driving conversation around diversity and minority groups both within the firm and in the wider industry. Most recently, we have partnered with the Law Society on its sponsorship of the Diversity Access Scheme, and notably the Brandusa Tataru-Marinescu Award for Diversity and Inclusion, in honour of our late colleague.
Shannett Thompson has spearheaded the REACH network through a number of initiatives, including joining the Halo Code and the firm’s celebration of Black History Month. The network is very proactive, creating a safe space to discuss issues faced by those at the firm from a minority background, as well as promoting awareness.
Senior Partner Stephen Parkinson is also passionate about creating an environment that celebrates and encourages diversity, ensuring that D&I remains front of mind and that we are always working to improve our inclusivity as a firm.
The award for ‘Outstanding Race & Ethnicity Employee Network’ reflects the dedication of Shannett, Stephen, the network and the wider firm to progressing D&I and creating an inclusive workplace for all of our colleagues.
Head of our REACH network, Shannett Thompson stated:
Our thanks go to the BSN and the Diversity Legal Awards for this recognition – it means a lot and hopefully highlights to anyone considering a career at KN that we are a supportive, inclusive firm. The members of the REACH network are a great group of people, who are all committed to raising awareness and making our firm a great place to work.
