Voter ID laws and the way courts interpret legislation
Leading City law firm Kingsley Napley LLP has today announced the launch of a dedicated Regulatory and Professional Discipline Department in recognition of the growing contribution of this practice area to its business.
Traditionally part of Kingsley Napley’s Criminal and Regulatory Department, the Regulatory and Professional Discipline team will in future be a standalone department in its own right, consisting of over 30 lawyers.
John Harding will lead the Department. Melinka Berridge and Ben Kemp are promoted to the partnership to join current team partners, John Harding and Nicola Hill. The promotions reflect their outstanding client service and contributions to the firm. Julie Norris, who trained and practised as a barrister, will be admitted to the partnership on successful completion of the Qualified Lawyer Transfer Test and entry on to the Solicitors’ Roll. In addition, Elizabeth Taheri, barrister, has been promoted to associate.
The new Department has one of the largest regulatory and professional discipline practices amongst its peers. Regular clients include the Health Professions Council, Security Industry Authority, the Chief Police Officers’ Staff Association, the General Teaching Council, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, General Optical Council and more. The team also advises individual professionals on regulatory and disciplinary issues.
Linda Woolley, Managing Partner of Kingsley Napley LLP, said “Kingsley Napley has long been regarded as a law firm for professionals. This step recognises the strength and recent success of our Regulatory and Professional Discipline team and our growth ambitions in this area going forward.”
Kingsley Napley LLP has had its most successful year so far in terms of turnover with increased billings across all its litigation groups. The firm has increased its turnover from £19.5m in 2009 to a projected £24.5m in 2011. The Regulatory and Professional Discipline team contributed significantly to this increase in firm wide turnover.
