How to deal with underperforming employees

Employment Breakfast Briefing

14 June 2017

Date:

14 June 2017

Specialist Area:

Employment

This session will be based around a practical scenario which addresses some of the major challenges and risks faced by employers, and the options available to them, when managing a poorly performing employee.

Agenda

We will provide a detailed case study and will identify the key factors which you need to bear in mind (including the challenges, risks and options available) when dealing with someone who is just not making the grade.

Through the case study, we will consider:

  • the documents which you might need and why;
  • how to prepare for and conduct any meeting(s) with the individual in question; and
  • how to deal with any potential Equality Act implications.

From the discovery of an employee’s poor performance and the reasons for it, to the options available to you in the circumstances (whether workplace or ACAS led), we will consider how best to handle such issues efficiently and, more importantly, effectively in practice.
