Thames Water fined for “entirely foreseeable” pollution
I recently attended the Department of Health consultation event to discuss Lord Saatchi’s proposed Bill. Representatives of charities, drugs companies and complimentary therapists also participated in the debate. The overall impression was that those attending were not convinced that the draft bill would encourage innovation, and, many were concerned that adverse unforeseen consequences could flow if the Bill, if introduced with the current proposed wording. We were, therefore, pleased to read in the Times that The Bill team will soon publish a new draft.
The Bill has received considerable publicity. In June, we responded to Lord Saatchi’s article in The Times in which he argued that clinical negligence litigation is a barrier to medical innovation.
