Purpose of job:

The role involves leading on and delivering key improvement projects aligned to firm wide business objectives. This includes supporting programmes such as the firm’s Growth Initiative, through projects targeted at improving fee earner productivity. The incumbent is also required to coach others on the delivery of continuous improvement projects.  

Duties:

To work as part of the BE Team to:

  • Deliver improvement projects using the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology and applying the toolset in a pragmatic way to enable the business to achieve measurable results in a timely manner.
  • Take the lead on working with specific clients to improve the way we work with them as requested and necessary, and to carry out/assist with projects for current and potential clients as a separate offering should this be required
  • Be responsible for working with the BE Senior Manager to contribute towards CI aspects of the BE business plan, aligned to delivering the relevant elements of the firm’s business plan (for example, driving and optimising the performance of legal processes and improving efficiency, productivity and profitability)
  • Be a champion of innovation to drive behavioural change and understanding around innovation

General skills:

  • Ability to plan and facilitate process mapping workshops in order to engage with the lawyers and support functions within the firm
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including preparing reports and presenting to senior stakeholders and clients
  • Excellent data analysis skills (ideally to Black Belt level in Lean Six Sigma, using Excel and/or Minitab)
  • Supervision and coaching of business analysts, lawyers and others in support functions in the discipline of process improvement
  • A good understanding of the legal technology market, key players and key challenges of implementing new products in a law firm context
  • Project Management skills and familiarity with project management tools, best practice and methodologies such as PRINCE2
  • Experience with working with project delivery frameworks such as agile and waterfall
