Business immigration into the UK is operated on a Points Based System (PBS), the premise behind which is that only the migrants whose skills would most benefit the UK are allowed to enter. 

Points are awarded across a variety of criteria to reflect the migrant’s aptitude, experience, age and also the level of demand for a particular type of job within the UK.  It is only migrants who meet the scoring level who are granted entry to work and live in the UK.

Tier 1 is for the highly skilled migrant wishing to live and work independently in the UK.

Tier 2 is for UK businesses who wish to sponsor a migrant to work for them in the UK.
