Public Law
Public Inquiries
Public Inquiries are invariably high profile, emotionally charged and often demand press attention. Representation of witnesses at public inquiries involves specialist skills and experience which few firms possess.
Our lawyers are noted experts with many years of experience of high profile public inquiries, judicial reviews and inquests. We offer both civil and criminal litigation expertise in-house, providing a seamless service to clients and witnesses. Our appointment to the Treasury Solicitor's legal panel for public inquiry work is testament to our reputation and expertise in this area.
It is vital that your lawyers are not learning their job while the inquiry is progressing. You can have confidence that we will have the people and resources to enable us to represent your interests effectively from the moment that you instruct us, from liaising with the inquiry and assisting you to compile your evidence, through to helping you to prepare for the hearings and handle media enquiries.
In addition to public inquiry work we provide assistance and representation before other tribunals, such as the General Medical Council and we regularly represent members of the Chief Police Officers Staff Association.

The team
The team has a number of individuals with extensive experience of public inquiry work, including the Hutton, Baha Mousa, Stockwell, Scott, BSE, Bloody Sunday, Marchioness, Sandline, and Glidewell inquiries and a number of private Government inquiries leading to published reports.
The team considerably strengthened its presence recently with the recruitment of Adam Chapman, the Head of the Home Office and Ministry of Justice Public Law team in the Treasury Solictor's Department. Adam was probably the best known public law litigator in government and this was therefore a major coup for the firm.
