Sexual orientation discrimination has been unlawful since 2003 under the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 and is now covered by the Equality Act 2010.

The definition of "orientation" in the Act covers lesbians, gay men, heterosexuals and bisexual people.  The Act does not cover sexual conduct (regardless of the orientation of the person involved) or the absence of such (i.e. celibacy).
