Psychiatry is the diagnosis, treatment of prevention of mental health conditions by psychiatrists. Treatment may involve help from a psychiatric nurse, psychotherapist and counsellor.

- anxiety disorders, including phobias (a fear of certain situations or objects) and paranoia (a suspicion of places or people);
- eating and sleep disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia and insomnia;
- personality disorders, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder (manic depression).
