TRAINEE SOLICITORS

Why become a trainee solicitor at Kingsley Napley?

Our trainees have the opportunity from early on in their training to have first hand experience of client care by shadowing and observing our experienced fee earners and partners in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

By choosing to start your career with us you will be given meaningful and good quality experience; working alongside and being supervised by highly experience lawyers, who are specialists in their legal field.

Every trainee is encouraged to get involved with marketing throughout their training.

It is not all work and no play. We have a very active social life within the firm through regular activities organised to provide everyone with opportunities to mingle and have some fun.

The firm is committed to development of its people and has in place initiatives to proactively support this.

How does the recruitment process work?

Short-listed candidates are invited to attend an Assessment Day and a subsequent partner interview, following which offers will be made to successful candidates.

What do we look for?

Kingsley Napley looks for candidates with a strong academic background. Applications are welcomed from legal and non-legal graduates who have achieved a 2:1.

A trainee will need to demonstrate commercial awareness, motivation and enthusiasm. To be successful you will need excellent communication skills with the ability to be a creative practical problem solver, a team player and a sense of humour.

Being a trainee is a fantastic opportunity and the firm looks for people who have a long term interest in Kingsley Napley and the areas of legal practice it focuses on.

Successful short listed candidates will be asked to attend an assessment centre and partner interview as part of the selection procedure.

What does the training programme consist of?

Trainees complete four six month seats, providing a wide range of practical experience and skills in contentious and non-contentious work. The training programme is broader than most other firms due to the wide ranging areas of law practiced here.

Individual preference for seats is sought and will be balanced with the firm’s needs.

Trainees work closely with partners and solicitors in a supportive team structure, and have regular reviews to assist development. The firm maintains a friendly and open environment and it is the firm’s policy that each trainee sits with a partner or senior solicitor whilst working for a department as a whole.

The firm gives trainees the chance to meet clients, be responsible for their own work and join in marketing and client development activities.
