Sarah Harris is a barrister who joined the Regulatory and Professional Discipline Department of Kingsley Napley in 2010, initially on secondment from 23 Essex Street Chambers. Whilst at the firm Sarah has advised, investigated and presented cases on behalf of the Health Professions Council (HPC), the General Teaching Council (GTC) and the General Optical Council (GOC). Sarah has presented cases of all levels of complexity, ranging from allegations of sexual misconduct to lengthy and complex competency cases.
Sarah was called to the Bar in 2007 and has experience prosecuting and defending a wide range of criminal cases in the Crown Courts, Magistrates’ Courts and Youth Courts. Such cases include robbery, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of offensive weapons/bladed articles, the full range of offences against the person, public disorder offences, theft, social security fraud and road traffic offences. Prior to joining Kingsley Napley she was regularly instructed by the Department of Work and Pensions and has recently spent time as seconded Counsel at the CPS Proceeds of Crime Unit. Sarah is on the CPS Advocate Panel for general crime at level 2.
Sarah has advised in a number of Prison Law matters, including applications for Judicial Review and has conducted internal adjudication hearings for serving prisoners. She has been involved in the preparation and presentation of police disciplinary matters and was instructed on a pro bono basis by Lovells Solicitors as Junior Counsel to Anthony Metzer in Hunt v AB .[2009] WLR (D) 30.
Sarah has experience of cases involving vulnerable witnesses. She can speak British Sign Language to Stage 1 level.
