Richard became a dispute resolution partner at Kingsley Napley in 1999.  He has a wide practice in contractual and commercial dispute resolution with particular expertise in insolvency, professional negligence, construction and fraud related matters. 

Richard is experienced in both obtaining and defending injunctive proceedings, including Freezing and Search Orders.  Richard is proactive in his approach especially when advising clients on risk management and avoiding disputes.    He prides himself on his technical expertise and in giving clients strong, clear, commercial and cost effective advice.

Richard has acted for:

  • a claimant in relation to a multi million pound fraud involving the alleged dumping of waste materials, including obtaining Freezing and Search Orders against a number of defendants;
  • a major PLC in a professional negligence claim against it's previous solicitors which has involved proceedings before the VAT & Duties Tribunal;
  • an American corporation in a complex contractual dispute involving the interpretation of a commercial agreement;
  • a number of clients on various insolvency related matters.
  • a defendant who was the subject of a Freezing Order, obtained by an American Claimant who had an alleged fraud and dishonesty.
  • acting for a Director in proceedings brought by HMRC relating to an alleged multi million pound inward diversion fraud.  The Director was the subject to a Freezing and Search Order.  His company had been placed into provisional liquidation and the provisional liquidator commenced proceedings for misfeasance and dishonest assistance
