Lettie Smythers joined the Criminal and Regulatory team in September 2010, having completed her training contract with Kingsley Napley.
Lettie has a particular interest in white collar crime, and is currently acting for a former director in an overseas corruption prosecution brought by the Serious Fraud Office. Lettie has experience of fraud prosecutions, as well as more general criminal matters such as indecent images, theft, harassment and Road Traffic Act violations.
Lettie has public law experience and is currently representing a number of soldiers and former soldiers who are witnesses in the Baha Mousa Public Inquiry, which is investigating the circumstances of the death of an Iraqi hotel receptionist held in British custody in 2003. This is the first Public Inquiry brought under the Public Inquiries Act 2005.
Before joining Kingsley Napley, Lettie completed her Law Degree at Southampton University and her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law. She also spent time working in the live events industry, and has toured Europe with bands such as Guns n’ Roses and Slayer.
