Jane is a Solicitor specialising in regulatory and professional discipline law.
Jane is primarily responsible for investigating and presenting cases before the fitness to practise panels of the Health Professions Council, the regulatory body for fifteen health professions, and the General Teaching Council, now called the Teaching Agency. She has investigated and presented cases in both England and Scotland in matters concerning allegations of lack of competence, sexual misconduct, clinical or professional failures and those involving patient deaths. Jane also provides advice to the HPC on matters of law and procedure.
A number of Jane’s cases heard before fitness to practise panels have been reported in the local and the national press, including:
- Paramedic who failed to treat critically injured biker escapes being struck off, reported in The Telegraph, March 2011
- Struck off: RE teacher banned from teaching after having sex with pupil, reported in The Daily Mail, May 2011
Jane joined the Kingsley Napley Regulatory and Professional Discipline team in 2005, having studied law in Australia and completing her post-graduate studies in London. She is dual qualified and is admitted to practise in England & Wales (2009) and New South Wales, Australia (2008).
