Amy qualified as a solicitor in 2008. Prior to joining Kingsley Napley’s specialist employment department, she trained and qualified at Reynolds Porter Chamberlain. Amy read Law and French at the University of Wales, Cardiff, spending a year of her degree in France studying French Law.
Amy advises both employers and senior executives on all aspects of employment law, contentious and non-contentious. She also advises on partnership issues. Amy has experience of acting for clients in a wide range of sectors, including financial and other professional services, leisure and retail, technology, sport and the pharmaceutical industry. She has also advised clients in the public sector, including the Chief Police Officers Staff Association (CPOSA).
Amy spent 6 months of her training contract on secondment to the in-house legal team of a large accountancy firm which gave her an invaluable opportunity to understand an employer’s business first-hand. She now regularly presents seminars and in-house training sessions to employer clients.
Areas of expertise
Amy’s litigation experience includes acting for employers and senior executives in cases involving:
- All areas of discrimination law;
- Unfair and wrongful dismissal;
- Redundancy and restructuring; and
- Whistleblowing
Amy also advises both corporate and individual clients on a wide range of non-contentious matters, including:
- Drafting and advising on employment contracts and handbook policies (including bonus issues);
- Family-friendly issues, such as maternity leave and flexible working;
- Disciplinary and grievance situations (including performance management issues);
- Drafting and advising on post-termination restrictive covenants; and
- Partnership moves
Recent experience
Amy’s recent experience includes:
- Successfully defending a professional services firm against claims of constructive dismissal, disability discrimination and whistleblowing
- Bringing an unfair dismissal, race discrimination and whistleblowing claim for a senior executive against a multi-national pharmaceutical company (judgment awaited)
- Advising a partner on his move between large regional law firms
- Acting for a multi-national group of companies in claims in the Employment Tribunal and the High Court involving issues of unfair dismissal, bonus payments, breach of contract and breach of directors’ duties
- Advising a senior executive on bonus issues
